Subject [R] North American Rally Championship to Merrill



Frank and Dan Sprongl only have to start the Lake Superior Pro Rally to

lock up their third North American Rally Cup, but they have withdrawn their entry

as a tribute to friend and competitor Carl Merrill.  Second in points now,

Merrill will automatically become the 98 NARC champion. For three years Carl

Merrill has contested every Canadian and American PRO rally. He twice won the North

American title and was the Canadian National Champion in 1996. He was as

beloved and respected in Canadian rallying as in his own country and will

be deeply missed.
